The 100th Anniversary Celebration is set!  

Please join Troop 1 Stow and the Troop One Stow Alumni as we celebrate 100 years of Troop 1 Scouting.

Remember your Scouting days as a member of Troop 1 Stow?  Camping in the town forest?  Camp Resolute?  Canoeing in Maine?  Mountain climbs each fall up in the whites? Your Eagle Scout Court of Honor?  The annual Charter Dinner?  Help us re-live all of it.

To commemorate our founding, TOSA and Troop 1 will sponsor a 100th Anniversary Celebration on May 19th, 2012, to be held at the Collings Foundation in Stow.  For those of you who are not familiar with the Collings Foundation, the Foundation’s Stow facility includes an aviation museum and a vintage automobile and racecar collection which will be available for viewing for those attending.

The 100th Anniversary Celebration starts at 5pm.  Dinner will be served, we’ll have live bands to provide some music for the night, and the Collings Foundation exhibits will be available for viewing.  We also have Scouting memorabilia dating back to the founding of the troop, as well as pictures and slideshows from throughout our history.

The final 2010 TOSA business meeting was held on December 6th at 7:30 pm at the Halfway Cafe in Maynard.  The Board of Directors made several decisions.  We approved our first fundraiser for 2011, to be a wine tasting event.  Details on date and time will follow when they are firmed up.  We also decided to pursue the establishment of a TOSA Scholarship to be awarded for the first time in 2012.  Again, the Scholarship committee will provide details as they are established.

Dues was a hot topic with several members noting that the requested amount, $5 per year, was exceptionally light.  We’d like everyone to remember that TOSA is not specifically a fundraising organization and we therefore will need only a small amount of funding to file our yearly paperwork.  Rather, we want to encourage as many alumni as possible to join the organization so that we can keep in touch and provide guidance and experience to the current crop of Scouts registered with Troop 1.  For those who would like to pay their membership dues (only $5) for 2011, please send a check to:
